The Big 5 workout difficulty

Postby Robesy » Mon Apr 16, 2012 6:47 pm

often when i do the big 5 workout, i find it hard to push myself to muscular failure. And when i work out i take a second break at the top of the set because of the pain. Any pointers on how to pull through it?

I know this sounds like a cop-out, but your best bet is to find a trainer who is familiar with Body by Science and go through a few workouts with them.

It's either that or learning to push yourself on your own over the next few months. Both will work, finding a trainer is faster.

yeah i also thought it would be good to have a partner to do it with, however... all my friends find a 15 minute workout once a week to good to be true. They are the type of guys who are in the gym at least for an hour a day. I need to find someone in my area to do it with, or like you said find a trainer. That could be a problem however since i am only 17 :(

I don't think age will matter. Visit http://www.bodybyscience.net/home.html/?page_id=889 and see if there is a trainer in your area.

I wouldn't waste your breath trying to convince people. Pass on basic information (books to read), and beyond that, just work hard and let the results speak for themselves.

I seriously doubt you will be convincing any of your friends the ideal amount of exercise per week is 15 minutes for the majority of ~7 billion people.

sounds like i need to move to CA when i get out of the house lol. And i didnt mean it would be hard to find a trainer, it would just be hard to finance since i still live at home under my parents wing. Its kind of hard to define yourself with when you cant pursue all your goals yet. All i can do in the moment is plan!

i have used the "Big 5 workout method" for 2 weeks at the same load for each of the workouts. I have noticed though after each time i work out i can do at least two more reps. I think i might need to increase the weight now that i am doing 10-12 instead of 8 like it says in body by science. This is great...i had my doubts until the results started speaking to me. My veins are starting to pop out on the regular without me working out. I have dropped from 185 to 175 pounds in two weeks after switching to about 50% Paleo. Also my arms, chest, and legs have got more defined...no increase in size yet though ):

Dude, most people would kill for results like those in any amount of time, let alone IN 2 WEEKS.

The gain in muscle will come later. Keep working hard now, and continue to improve/tweak your diet. Right now a lot of your effort in working out is going to "learning the ropes". Learning how to push yourself, how to adjust the resistances being used, how to select your exercises, how to pace yourself, etc...

Slow and methodical as the training may be, a lot has to be learned to really get it right. Its not super difficult, but even something this simple takes time to learn, especially without a trainer.
