Leangains

Postby Cloud » Thu Nov 25, 2010 4:35 am

Hey Dream,

I just started reading some articles on this http://www.leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html
blog, and I think it has some interesting ideas.

A lot of Martin's clients have gotten great results.

I am considering switching from a hardcore low carb/ high fat diet, to a diet with more starchy veggies on workout days, and more fat/ less carbs on rest days, always keeping protein intake high.

I am sure you have read it before, but what is your opinion on this approach?

Thanks

Hey Cloud,
I highly recommend the leangains approach. Best decision ever next to eating paleo and working out with HIT.

It's pretty much calorie restriction on non-work out days so 5-6 days a week, high protein and moderate fat but keeping the calories below maintenance. On work out days (1-2 days a week) its high protein and moderate carbs (yams/potatoes preferably: I say less than 200g of carbs) with an increase in calories above maintenance.

Marks Daily Apple recommends fasting and some longer fasts, but use the leangains approach. 16/8… 16 hours in the fasted state and a window of 8 hours to eat. It's all on the site.

So far I’m down at 168 lbs compared to 185 lbs  (-17lbs) in less than 8 weeks while increasing strength which is very important :)

Plus the time I save in the morning not making/eating breakfast is awesome. All I take with me is coffee and water. Plus you'll actually feel full in the morning from fasting.

If you have any questions let me know.
